The Ambassador to the United States from the United Republic of Tanzania, his Excellency Ambassador Ombeni Y. Sefue and his wife Mrs. Anita Sefue presided at this inaugural weekend celebration as honorary chairpersons along with event Co-Chairmen, Mr. Robert Dean and Mr. Ari Nikki. The Windsor Freedom Celebration and Award Ceremony were hosted at the picturesque Juniper Hill Inn, in Windsor, Vermont on May 29-30, 2009. This event was conceptualized by Mr. Dean and his associates to honor extraordinary efforts of individuals or groups who have positively affected the lives of others under the guise of the long standing tenants of personal freedom. The bestowals of this bi-annual award seek to celebrate those individuals or groups that work to insure equality and offer opportunity to the human family, regardless of color, creed, or sexual orientation. In welcoming the Tanzanian Ambassador to the US, the Honorable Ombeni Y. Sefue and his wife as well as Dr. and Mrs. Irving Williams, dignitaries, and attendees, the Governor of the State of Vermont, the Honorable Jim Douglas and his wife Dorothy Douglas delivered an inspiring address, recognizing the dynamic and selfless work of Dr. and Mrs. Williams and AHEAD, as well as reflecting a mutual understanding for, and intent to improve the lives of people in challenged communities throughout the world by forming viable partnership and alliance to insure success in these efforts. Additional luminaries in attendance included Vermont State Senator Alice Nitka, Vermont State Representative Donna Sweaney, Mrs. Jane Stetson Chairperson of the Democratic National Finance Committee and her husband William Stetson, III.
