Thursday, July 16, 2009 Friends of AHEAD, Inc of Washington, DC hosted an wonderfully entertaining AHEAD Summer Soiree and fundraiser to benefit the people of the Eastern Tanzania and the Gambia. This garden reception event was held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, at the Historic Stewart R. Mott House at 122 Maryland Avenue NE Washington, DC which rests in the shadows of the Supreme Court Building and the Hart Senate Building, on Capitol Hill. The summer evening celebration highlighted the 27 years of AHEAD accomplishments in saving lives in desperately challenged rural communities in Africa with dignitaries, guests, and new and old friends of AHEAD. The spectacular gardens of the Mott House offered a perfect venue, allowing our guests to mix and mingle, reconnect with one another and discuss the mission and current dynamic programs of AHEAD in Tanzania and the Gambia. AHEAD was thrilled to host over 80 friends and guests at this exciting event, which served as an inaugural fundraising event as a part of our international, multi-city campaign lending focus on AHEAD and it's work in troubled communities within the African diaspora. We sincerely thank our wonderfully generous supporters for their participation and contributions to AHEAD and our efforts and making this event a rousing success! |
