Plastic Surgeon Dr. Michael Jones Delivers Speech on Innovative Keloid Surgery and Treatment at Hospital in Dar es Salaam

On an AHEAD volunteer trip in July 2017, Dr. Michael Jones spoke before his Tanzanian colleagues, delivering a speech describing his original keloid treatment program, which has a 98% success rate in preventing keloid reoccurence. Keloids are firm, rubbery lesions made of benign scar tissue that are not contagious, but can cause severe itchiness or pain. Surgical removal of keloids, when not combined with other treatment methods, results in regrowth within several months in 70-100% of cases. Dr. Jones’ work treating keloids has been featured on the television show The Doctors.
