A summer on Martha's Vineyard is not complete without celebrating the work of and contributing to the efforts of the Gear Family in support of AHEAD, Incorporated.  As our most gracious hosts, the Gear Family in conjunction with the AHEAD, Inc., sponsored AHEAD's Second Annual Martha's Vineyard Summer Soiree and Fundraiser on Saturday August 1, 2009 at the lavish gardens of the Gear House in Oak Bluffs.  It was indeed the MUST EVENT on the Vineyard this season.  As supporters danced, laughed and mingled into the night, with delicious food and beverages being served, AHEAD celebrated with scores of supporters with this seasons fundraiser to help critically challenged communities in the coast region of Tanzania.

The organizing committee co-chaired by Drs. Karen Gear (AHEAD BOD) and Donna Williams (AHEAD BOD) engineered an inspired afternoon affair, which attracted the full spectrum of Vineyardites and summer island vacationers in support of AHEAD's focus for this event: to equip and develop systems for improvement of  maternal and fetal survival and morbidity in Eastern Tanzania, with a specific focus on facility development at Masaki Hospital.  

Our sincerest thanks to the Gear family and friends, the organizing committee, and the exceptional guests and patrons for your support of this years dramatically successful celebration.
