Who We Are
AHEAD, Inc., an
acronym for Adventures in Health, Education, and Agricultural
Development, Incorporated, was founded in 1981 to provide hands-on,
people-to-people assistance to underserved rural communities to combat
malnutrition, disease, poverty, technological deprivation and other
conditions that have an adverse impact on the health and welfare of
people.
Our History
In 1974, Dr. & Mrs. Williams took their four small children to
live in Tanzania. After working in Africa as a pediatrician for
two-and-a-half years and witnessing the deprivation and suffering of
children dying from preventable diseases, the Williams' family was
prompted to dedicate their lives to this rewarding cause.
Several times a year, they travel to Africa along with a dedicated
group of volunteers to work on health and development projects in rural
communities. The experience proves rewarding for not only the
villagers, but the volunteers as well.
Only through the continued efforts of volunteers and generous
donations has AHEAD been able to continue these very important
life-sustaining endeavors.
